Actually, there's quite a few ppp packages for dos. nettamer
http://www.nettame.net for one.
I don't use it, because I don't like the way it handles newsgroups, but I
know a lot of people that do like it and use it regularly.
Then there's the tcp/ip suite from waterlu (university of New York) that
can be found at the buffalo NY ftp site (sorry, don't have it handy at the
moment)
There's the university of minisota's slip package (that will work with ppp
if you use a different packet driver)
Then there's ka9q. By far my favorite dos internet package. It can
multitask up to 40 sessions, (both incoming and outgoing) but the problem
is, there's so many different versions, you may have a rough time
finding one you like. :) Of course you could always compile your own,
since it comes with complete source. I used this package to run my
internet connection for just over 2 months, while I obtained and
configured my linux server.
And, recently, there's another package to hit the market (showed up in
February) that's called pppbbs. The last version I know of is 3.01. This
package is written by the same folks that wrote virtual bbs, and it can
handle both incoming and outgoing connections as well, though it's not
exactly meant for an individual user, though it could certainly be used as
such. If anyone would like some of these programs, and has difficulties
finding them, let me know, and I'll see about digging up direct ftp/urls
to them.
