Netscape announced the open source development model for Communicator
5.0 back in Janurary 23, 1998. The source was released on March 31,
1998 and an updated released on April 8, 1998. Visit

On another note, Sun has started beta testing Java PC for DOS that
includes a HotJava browser. It uses a DPMI server to enable everything
to run in 32-bit protected mode. The Java PC itself uses JNI to
communicate with native drivers from DOS, but only allows pure Java
programs to be run by users.
