     Hm, may be I not totally understand your question, but you can utilize
this through many utilities. LAPLINK and FASTWIRE support this (and LAPLINK
sells with LPT-to-LPT cable, AFAIK). MS-DOS include INTERLINK/INTERSVR
(although they not so easy, because INTERLNK requires from client side to
modify CONFIG.SYS and reboot). DR-DOS include FILELINK.

     Moreover, most of external devices (like pocket PhD, Iomega ZIP and
JAZZ, SyQuest SyJet, etc) works through LPT with help of SHUTTLE drivers,
written by some Indian company.

P.S. Of course, to utilize EPP/ECP capabilities there must be bidirectional
LPT-to-LPT cable (new Centronics).
P.P.S. And not forgot about grounding, or you can burn your PC.
