I have absolutely no knowledge of how this is done, but it would be worth
asking DJ Delorie, as he has the comp.os.msdos.djgpp group, which seems
to be mirrored to a mailing list. This kind of approach would probably work
quite well.

I used to work for a tech support department. Some of the guys were just
inexperienced, some were weird, but a lot of the time they were doing it
for just a quick fix to get the customer off the line.
Occasionally they would tell the user what was going to happen to their disk
before they did it. Eventually the boss found out how many people were being
sent the REBUILD helpsheets and they put a stop to it.
