When I tried uninstalling opendos it couldn't find its data file.
Unfortunately, delwatch is on so msdos can't overwrite the older beta and
install
over it. The latest drdos beta is uninstallable because the old
emm386.exe has so
many problems. I'm going to try an opendos boot disk and check out
delwatch on
a different drive to see if I can turn it off.
If I can't turn that off, I'll be spending the next few days backing
data off this machine and then format the hard drives to remove
opendos. Hopefully the format command will get that done.
Beyond this, I'm out of options here. That old emm386.exe should have
been
called elevator.exe since the machine was going up and down about every
five minutes.
Right now, I don't even know that I want to do anything with drdos.
The file I downloaded from the drdos directory on
ftp.caldera.com was called 72ddl702.exe. I hope that has the fixed
emm386.exe in it!
I don't use the web site since that classifies as an accessibility abuse.
Besides I've used it and submitted several forms on it before and caldera
has my current
contact information.
