Subject: two problems with opendos install.exe
Message-ID: <Pine.GSO.3.96.980220181013.25023A-100000@shell.clark.net>

Both of these problems are a direct result of less than
adequate intelligence on the part of software developers.
1) It is not helpful to use high ascii graphics for
fancy pictures of keys to be pressed. The license acceptance screen
contains some of
these in critical places, like the key to hit to leave good
information alone and go onto the next screen. Of course it's possible I
could
be wrong about this one since opendos install.exe may not necessarily
read previously stored data.
2) In situations of limited disk space where a previous install of
opendos has happened
before when an upgrade is about to happen,
the amount of disk space is not the amount of free disk
space. To get install-upgrade-space,
install-upgrade-space=free-disk-space+space-used-by-previous-installation.

I can understand if a user didn't give permission for older files to be
overwritten if
opendos were to complain about insufficient space, however install.exe
never
asked me for permission in the first place.

The installation will not be impossible, it will take longer than should
have been
necessary though because of failures along these lines.
