Subject: BASIC Compilers
Date: Sat, 03 Jan 1998 08:22:46 PST

A lot of people have been wondering about a BASIC compiler for DOS. ASIC
is a good compiler, but I don't recommend it for making real complex
programs. I recommend FirstBasic, which is basically a shareware version
of PowerBasic 2. If you're willing to spend $150, I strongly recommend
PowerBasic 3.2, it's what I usually use. A trial version of PowerBasic
3.2 (the only restriction is that you cannot open files) is also
available. All of these (except ASIC) can be downloaded at
www.powerbasic.com.
