Subject: Re: DOS FAQ PAGE
Mime-Version: 1.0

Hi,

>I ve got a question to all in this list: Could I make a DOS FAQ PAGE at my Homepage
>( http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Lab/6347) With the tips from this Mailing list?

This is an open medium, and I see no problem to compile contributions to the list into a
FAQ, as long as the original contributors are mentioned. Personally I think it s a great idea,
and I would very much appreciate if someone jumps into it and introduces & maintains a
DOS FAQ. I think this could help many people and would save time for other issues, if the
most common questions are answered (accurately!!!) in such a database. Concerning
OpenDOS, there have already been various attempts to start FAQs (all I am aware of are
listed in the links section of my OpenDOS pages), but unfortunately though still online they
are all not very up to date. Maybe you can take over one of these documents for a start...
Though it s not a FAQ, but a mixture between tips & tricks list and manuscript, there is also the
opportunity to translate my NWDOSTIP.TXT (from the MPDOSTIP.ZIP archive) file into English,
but obviously this is no project for one person alone...
However, it does not make much sense to introduce "yet another FAQ" (so you need a FAQ index in the end), especially if it only duplicates the other FAQs, and will not be kept up to
date within a reasonable time. I know that Caldera also plans to fresh up & expand their own
OpenDOS FAQwannabe, but there is still a need for at least one independent, comprehensive,
profound, accurate, and up-to-date FAQ. Just my thoughts...

Matthias
