Okay, I'm convinced it is a good idea... especially the potential for
easier porting of software.  Would the current limitations of DOS
character devices be okay for an OpenDOS /dev/fd0 or /dev/hda6, etc??
I still think there are some non-trivial (but certainly possible)
changes needed to take advantage of such devices. 

But I won't say any more until I look at some source code so I know
something about what I'm talking about (I've heard that's a good idea :-).
