I've found out even putting emm386.exe in autoexec.bat
and turning on the pic option /pic=on gets no
different results than having pic unused and having
emm386.exe load in config.sys.
It's entirely possible the incompatibility runs deeper,
I think the main problem has nothing to do with software and
everything to do with computer system hardware,
specifically manufacturer and bios date.  If it's any consolation,
the results with msdos while slightly different are no better.
