I think OpenDOS should, by default, be compatible with MSDOS (really
with PKZIP), but have an option (int 21h, AX=370?h) to set a bitmask to
make the int21h/13h call behave sensibly but incompatibly by specifying
a bitmask.
By the way: I recall from the dim and distant past that using the FCB
delete with ????????.??? was the fastest way to delete a whole directory
full of files; is this actually still the case in MSDOS etc?
