Although there are sure some problems of NWDOS/OpenDOS' SHARE-support
compared to MS-DOS/PC-DOS, I'd like to say, that under Novell DOS and
OpenDOS, SHARE is not part of the kernel, but is installed by SHARE.

Older DR DOS versions had built-in SHARE-support (which could
be disabled), and the external SHARE-utility has been only a
compatibility dummy and configuration tool for the built-in
SHARE-support. I think, under MS-DOS/PC-DOS, most of the
SHARE-code is part of the kernel, so one actually has to
install SHARE.EXE under Novell DOS and OpenDOS to expect
similar results as under MS-DOS/PC-DOS.

Looking at SYSVARS, Novell DOS/OpenDOS appears to only fake
the MS-DOS/PC-DOS SHARE hooks, but does not actually use them.
There is another set of SHARE-hooks, available via DR DOS INTVARS.
(Details are in Ralf's queue for ca. 3/4 year now, I hope they
finally show up with INTER54+ ;-) ). I must admit, that by
now I have not proved this by looking at the OpenDOS source code.

Yep.

For those of you with a fair understanding of the German language,
please have a look at NWDOSTIP.TXT from my MPDOSTIP.ZIP (see my
web-page below). It's already discussed there in full details... ;-)

BTW, I'm still looking for translators to come out with an English
version of this file... If we'd find enough people to devide the
work-load downto acceptable small jobs for each, we could have it
rather soon.
