I've put up some ext2 info on my website.  The URL is:

Please check out this information everyone and then we can
realistically pursue adding ext2 to DOS.  The info is there, and
ext2 is very capable, why reinvent the wheel.

There is a saying that goes, "Those who don't understand UNIX,
are doomed to reinvent it only poorly". The same can be said
about filesystems.
