btw i've heared a rumor that long filename api is not part of DOS 7 but

part of "Windows" and does not appear until GUI is loaded.. Is that true

or not?

In fact DOS 7 is a plain DOS. Most of handy old DOS utilities remain

untouched in this version. Even famous UNDELETE.EXE from Central Point

Software is a byte-to-byte copy of elder one (Crap95 setup warns you
about

it :o). Ok, of course you can find nothing "long" in this DOS. Long
filenames

support is provided by number of VxDs (vxdldr, ifsmgr, vfat and
others).

And as I mentioned almost all "new" DOS utilities DOES NOT recognize
long

file names :o). Be happy, you have good, well-known, old DOS.

Regards, SJP.
