I had task manager loaded and running.
I hadn't added any tasks, this happened within the main process not
subprocesses.
If I run a command once we have no problem, If I run it three times
in a row, like playing a sound so you can adjust the volume on
the soundblaster after the third run, too many files open error comes
back,
and even giving up and running another command opendos can't find the
batch file in
the directory where it's actually located and that directory was on the
path.
I cleared the situation by rebooting and not running the task manager.
doing multiple runs of the play utility playing a certain sound to
adjust the volume does not cause these problems when the task manager
isn't
running.
