A little help for that cd rom problem.
How I managed to get sbide.sys loaded in config.sys was:
1)  Install with the original cdrom software,
2)  In autoexec.bat change all references to mscdex.exe to nwcdex.exe,
3)  reboot the system.
In my case it was important to do absolutely no more than that.
