I'm glad (and somewhat nervous) to announce the first release of the
OpenDOS FAQ to be available, up to date as of 14th March 1997
(The day before yesterday, I know, but these things take time!)
The FAQ will be available in an increasing number of formats created
by a little formatting thing called FaX I wrote myself. It was
inspired by a set of macros Mark Habersack wrote, but he told me not
to keep saying that, so I'll take all the glory instead :-)
It is noticeably similar to DJ Delorie's earlier FAQ, from which I
snarfed most of everything (with permission!). I've updated answers
that seemed to contradict list opinion at the time and added a few
nuggets of knowledge here and there, but most of the effort went into
the formatting!
Feel free to distribute the FAQ, as long as it isn't changed in
meaning.
Since it is a first release, there are probably loads of really funny
spelling mistakes and other such errors. It'd be nice if you emailed
them to me rather than clutter the list with them (and thus avoid
tarnishing my "hard-man" image :-)
For now, only the plain-looking HTML version is available, at
"http://www.delorie.com/opendos/faq/". In the works are a snazzier
graphics-and-tables version for the DeltaSoft pages, when I get the
section numbering working. From there will follow formatted ASCII,
TeXinfo, and ROFF (and therefore PostScript).
If you want another format, email me about it; I may be able to help
you.
Regards,
ABW
