well, i've been running opendos for a grand total of 2 days now, and i have
a couple first thoughts:

first of all, very nice job done with some of the utils. i noticed that
nwcache runs a lot faster than smartdrv. i run a bbs on a 386sx/16, and
hard drive caching is the only thing that doesn't make it go down for 5
minutes while packing mail. i also noticed how much conventional ram i
suddenly had .. with microsquash dos i had about 560k with all my drivers
loaded .. suddenly i'm surrounded by 620k. opendos's emm386 is indeed neato.

i'm kind of afraid to try the multitasking, but i suppose it's not really
worthwhile to even attempt on a 386sx/16.

one thing that's definately missing is a "/s" commandline option in the DIR
command. it's kind of a pain not to be able to recursively search
directories when i've lost a vital file.

one thing that's not so important, but still kind of annoying, is that a
multi-config on bootup would be nice. i had my ms-dos all configured with
several options (load everything, minimal boot, etc) and now i have to
manually go through and pick stuff to load if i want to run a
memory-intensive game.

at any rate, i can't wait until the source code comes out .. does anyone
have any kind of concrete (or non-concrete) date set?
