Something I use to the fullest with a custom picklist maker for zipping.
I either do a DIR of the dir I want to zip files from using redirection to
a file, or extract a list of files from the zip file for extracting. The
picklist maker presents it for me to choose files from and then produces a
response file for pk/un/zip to work with. As part of the feature, if I
don't pick any files, the lack of a response file is tested and the batch
is aborted if none.
