Yes, it would be nice if W3 pages realized that people DO still
use text mode.

For most people, downloading files via FTP is the *ONLY* way to
go. Too many times I've downloaded something in Netscape only to
see it crash during the last 2% of a 8meg download at 14.4kbps.
I'm sure Caldera will put up the files for FTP though.

Yeah, I'm actually kind of surprised at this one. We're supposed
to be fascinated with OpenDOS (and I am), but we're supposed to
download it in Windows? Kinda like shooting yourself in the
foot. I had to use NS to download it too, and I wasn't happy
about that cause NS crashes all of the time. Luckily I got it.
Would have been nice to use LYNX or ncftp though.

Yes, I get annoyed by all of this stuff too. The biggest
annoyance is pages with live midi music on them. I keep getting
a popup dialog box saying "application type x-midi not supported"
which I have to cancel out 50 times. Funny thing is that I *DO*
have a midi player for Linux, it *DOES* work, and it *IS* set up
as a helper app in NS! Beats me why it doesn't work in NS. I
don't particularly care to hear a bunch of music while doing
some browsing at 3am either though. Tends to make you spill your
coffee.

I've got to disagree here. The majority of people access the
internet via dialup PPP/SLIP or UNIX shell access, or directly
from work/school. The people who access via email are the
minority of users. Since you can get full access to the net for
about $20/month virtually anywhere, it is easy to solve the
problems associated with ftp/www/archie/gopher/etc via email by
just getting a real account.

OpenDOS is new, and their pages are also new. I'm positive that
Caldera will make their pages easily accessible for EVERYONE,
including LYNX users. Also, I'm sure that they are in the
process of putting up an ftp server. These things take time
however.
