A problem common to edit.exe and dosbook.exe is
they don't write to bios but use direct screen writess.
I don't know if those programs have the option available to
write to bios the same way msdos normally does when qbasic; edit,
and help.exe and dosshell.exe aren't being used but
making that ability for opendos really would offer speech synthesizer
users
some alternatives. Those might be writes to dos services instead,
but it's for sure they're not direct with programs like edlin.exe for
instance.
I don't use m$dos edit.exe in favor of edlin.exe for
that reason when I want to do quick edits.
The opendos edit.exe I hope is more than a screen-oriented editor,
its size is large enough to be a wordprocessor.
