Hmm, so my dumb suggestion is not so dumb after all?  Cool!  Now
that will fix one problem, I wonder if the kernel image is
compressed?  I wan't to change CONFIG.SYS to ODCONFIG.SYS
so that the 2 DOS's don't mess with each other.
