Problems:
1. I tried to run an application called DigiPlay (it is a sample editor by the maker of Scream Tracker for
mod music). DigiPlay is a nice dos app with a virtual screen. Meaning: as you move the mouse up or down
you get to see more of the program interface (the screen just scrolls). After installing OpenDOS, I start
DigiPlay. But now I am unable to scroll the screen with the mouse. Only the upper part of the interface and that
is that. Any ideas how to fix that?
2. I tried running Fast Tracker (another mod editor) which has the triton dos-extender built into it.
I am receiving a error message (a VM error). It states that there is no memory to handle the vidoe buffers. That
I should release more memory by closing other apps (but no other apps are running when I started FT). I press
enter, and the screen is all jumbled and I have to reboot.
3. OpenDOS can not initialize my SB32 AWE PNP sound card. Consequently it would not recognize the cd-rom
drive connected to the card. I tried using CTPNP (the plug and play utility) then
ctload sbide.sys, then
nwcdex.exe
but the card would not initialize.
To initialize the sound card I have to boot to MSDOS 7 ( I have win95\dos 7 and I use OpenDOS through
a bootable diskette), and then run
ctpnp
which initializes the sound card fine (it sets the BLASTER settings)
then reboot (through ctrl-alt-del) into OpenDOS. Then run
ctpnp and then load the cdrom driver and nwcdex.
In this case things work fine.
So apparently OpenDOS on its own does not initialize the PNP sound card on its own. It needs help from
MSDOS 7.
Is there a way for OpenDOS to be able to run CTPNP on its own?
