OK.. this may seem like a semi flame, because it is.. in a way.. but also
it is a "cry" for help!!!
OK.. I asked many ppl if I could install OpenDOS, and still be able to run
NT, I was replied with Postitive letters saying "yes you can"
So, I DLed the OD files, with netware (of course) and installed them over
top of my existing MS DOS files... :>
I had fun for like 2 hours palying with all the new things that OD
offered, especially the Multi Tasking.. :>
But, when I rebooted, to get to NT, the NT Boot Screen, whichs gives the
Option of loading every OS on your system., did not appear.. instead... OD
booted.. so I figured that OD re wrote a system file or config, no
biggie.. I would just use my little emerg repair boot disk for NT,which
sets all the defaults back.. like the OS loader.. :>
Welp... OD changed the file system on every Partition on my HD.. I could
not axs my HD through anything other then OD.. I was pissed.. this was not
kewl.. at all.. really bad thing.. :>
OD is kewl... but I need NT, NT is my life saver.. it is my server for my
IntraNet, my Server for teh Internet, and a hell of a lot more.. it does
every thing for me.. it has everything on it.. I can not live with uot
it.. in other words..
So I said... SHIT.. I am screwed.. Considering their was over 500+ megs of
shit on my HD that could not be deleted.. and NO.. I currently do not have
a tape backup. . they don't make Tape Backups large enough to support my
system.. 6 GIGS.. :>
Anyway... I got to the point where it was no way I was able to do
anything.. so I ran the uninst.exe program in the opendos direc.. bad
idea.. I thought it was an Uninstall for OpenDOS, no it is the Uninstall
for DR DOS.. which totally screwed me over.. cause now my system could ot
boot at all.. so I had to boot with a floppy.. dlete the partitions and
start over.. :<
That may not be how some of you may have handled it.. but that was *MY*
last resort.. :<
And no.. I installed MS DOS *AGAIN*, and then tried to install NT again,
and NT would not install, because it said the MS DOS portion of the setup
could not detect a hard drive, or something like that...
OK.. this is not good.. I re partitioned my HD with FDISK, into 5
partitions..
1 2 gig, the other 1 gig.. OK.. all set and good.. I formatted all the
partitions.. now everything is accessible.. but NT still cannot detect
whatever it is looking for...
SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME.. I AM BEGGING OF YOU... HELP!!!
I am not the allmighty intelect when it comes to computers.. but I know
enough to get me through everything I have to get through.. and welp..
this is a problem i have never in my life encoutered... :>
