GH: Not so bare bones to me. I remember when Slack came on a few
floppies, then a couple CDs, then a set of 6 CDs, and now a DVD (I think
you can still get the 6 CD version, but IIRC, it does not include
everything that is on the DVD). Many of the packages I had to install in
the past are now included in the standard distro. Slack has grown a lot
since the 90s. But yes, it still does not include everything in the
Linux world, but that is what SlackBuilds.org is for. Even then, I run
across a package SBo does not have and I have to get the source and
build it myself. In fact, the last I checked (just now) SBo only had
gEDA-gaf 1.8.2, so I am building 1.10.x on my own.

Glenn,

I had to check if avahi is installed on my system now, and it isn't. No
avahi daemon running either. "avahi" rang a bell, so I think I had to
install it on the previous Slack (14.1?). I would have to go down to the
basement archives to research when and why I had to install avahi, if I did.

Note also that IIRC, I have seen similar dbus messages when shutting
down X (xfce). But then, anything can happen when shutting down and I
have ignored it.

The dbus messages popping up in the gschem status window is not a
show-stopper to me. It is more of an annoyance and a red flag that
something is not quite right.

Thanks.
Girvin
