Yes.
I tested putting pinnumber=_ in the symbol rather than numbers, this 
allowed the '_'s to be positioned in the symbol as placeholders for the 
pin numbers and on placing the symbol in a schematic they were initially 
transformed into the pin numbers for slot 1.
I quite like that as a workaround. :)
