You're assuming that operation is infrequent for all users, and that
it's counter-intuitive for all users.  You're also assuming that it's
only one click I'm saving, but if the import area isn't even on the
screen it's many clicks-n-drags to bring that area into view, plus the
import itself, plus clicking the same "here" every time.

The mark is used to *set* the import point.  Once set, you don't need
the mark to be there any more, the X,Y are stored as attributes.

I.e. stored with the PCB is a region of your workspace in which new
elemnents are placed.
