Then why the reference to =93filenames=94? This is clearly intended to =
be pcb-specific.

The =93footprint=94 attribute in geda-gaf is a bit confusing, as it =
really refers to the physical package of the component. The actual board =
footprint you want depends on the layout tool=92s library and the board =
fabrication processes. This is beyond the scope of geda-gaf. Lately, =
I=92ve been mapping footprints using a =93database=94 that has entries =
like:

(footprint-name "CAPACITOR" "0603" "CAPC1608X87N=94)

I load the mapping script and data into gnetlist with -m. Maybe I should =
put this on gedasymbols.
