What gEDAhead is trying to achieve here?

When someone creates a fork and takes a project in a different direction, great. If the new project dumps Guile and updates to GTK+3.0, I’ll switch. (Actually, I’d switch if the project only did one of the two. Sticking with Gtk+2 is a bitter pill for me and off topic.) However, I believe this new launchpad site has created brand confusion.

To put this in perspective, I’ve used gEDA tools as a secondary source of income. I’ve designed PCBs, that if a commercial tool was used, would not have made a profit. Others use gEDA as a primary source of income. We absolutely need to take into account, these people that can be impacted in the wallet (or purse), when we make changes.

I don’t disagree with the fork, but rebrand the new product. Call it gEDA++ or uberEDA. Tell the user that the product is a fork. Just don’t cause the confusion.

By causing the confusion, we are not being honest with our customer. It won’t matter how many developers are working if we have no customers.
