For those starting from gschem - there is an easy way to try kicad.  See
 	http://www.gedasymbols.org/user/frank_miles/
for a gnetlist script that will generate kicad-compatible netlists.

And when you need custom footprints - the python footprint generator
from Darrel Harmon will generate either 'pcb' (gEDA) or 'pcbnew' (KiCad)
compatible output:
 	http://dlharmon.com/geda/footgen.html

So far I don't know of any tools that make the kicad-schematic -> 'pcb'
netlist.
