For many who are not programmers that is very difficult to do.  
Even if the distro does provide it and it isn't installed it is 
too difficult for many.

Really, it's worse ..  There is no Makefile, so most people who 
download it would have no idea what to do with it.

We need to make our stuff useful to everyone.  Not just advanced 
programmers.  Lots of pro PC designers can't program at all, and 
have no idea how circuits work.
