Well, I posted the error messages to this list. They did not seem to ring 
anyone's bells. DJ provided me with insight to his build environment. All 
I could pull from it was that his set-up used auto_tools that were way 
older than the ones on my Debian desktops. The version he used, was not 
even in old stable anymore.

Anyway, I am happy that Peter Brett managed to get minipack running.
