To avoid the problem mentioned by Shashank: "The problem tends to be more pronounced when all the supply pins are hidden, because then if you're feeling lazy during the schematic capture, you realize the problem late into routing and don't always immediately realize what is wrong" I simply make the "net" attributes value visible and locate it somewhere in the body of the part's outline, or in the case of really small outlines, I put them just outside the part. It's hard to forget that they are there when you see something like "Gnd:7" on a TTL part. Once the schematic and Layout is done, you can always make them invisible again for a prettier schematic.
