To avoid the problem mentioned by Shashank:

hidden, because then if you're feeling lazy during the schematic 
capture, you realize the problem late into routing and don't always 
immediately realize what is wrong"

I simply make the "net" attributes value visible and locate it somewhere 
in the body of the part's outline, or in the case of really small 
outlines, I put them just outside the part. It's hard to forget that 
they are there when you see something like "Gnd:7" on a TTL part.  Once 
the schematic  and Layout is done, you can always make them invisible 
again for a prettier schematic.
