Pins and Pads have names and numbers, both in string form, so I tend to mix them. I still guess that an empty pin number may work, or maybe an arbitrary (numeric )string? Should behave similar to a plain mechanical pad. I really think there should be a solution for your problem, but currently I can not really remember, and I have no good keywords for googling...
