I found it to be easier to adapt the actual libgeda sources, so I 
translated them semi-automatically to Python.  However, this needs some 
manual cleanup, as some of the code can be removed--as well as much of the 
comments, which are mostly either stating the obvious or wrong. :(

So it will probably take me another week or so to get reading, 
manipulating and writing schematic files work.
