what am I doing wrong ?

In $HOME/.gEDA I want to override the hierarchy separator, so created a 
file, gnetlistrc, containing one line"
(hierarchy-uref-separator ".")

but when running gnetlist, it doesn't seem to pick up the change.

Where'd I mess up?
