Interesting. I started using it in 2002, and haven't really seen any great improvement in usability. It was good then, and is good now. Mostly, I've been hurt by unanticipated consequences of "improvements". At least some of the worst ideas (e.g. magnetic net mode) can be turned off by the rc files.
