We all have. And it's pretty insulting that you seem to believe that
you're the only non-hobbyist or non-newbie here. There are missile
systems currently deployed that are running my firmware, for example.
I'd wager that there are quite a few people here doing "important" work.
Lose the "I work in the SPACE PROGRAM, look how huge mine is!" attitude.

Then complain about it to people in your line of work. These insults
are not appropriate here. This is a mailing list that serves as a forum
for development on and assistance with a free software project.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes. We all know that. You, however, are
assuming, insultingly so, that every move the developers make is
automatically going to be:
1) A mistake.
2) A HUGE one.
3) One that actually affects you.
4) One that you cannot in any way recover from.
and
5) That all of the previous releases will somehow disappear.
If a new release of software hitting the streets suddenly makes you
completely unable to perform your job, I respectfully submit that this
is not gschem/PCB's problem.

"Modern UI" now means "iPad". Don't even go there. And if it doesn't
mean "iPad" to YOU, it will soon enough. Insisting that this toolset
"keep pace" with trends like this, we'll have to insist that all
developers are trendy clove-smoking trench-coated kids who rewrite the
entire thing in the language-du-jour every other year or so.
If you decide to actually DO anything about what you're complaining
about, I look forward to trying out your fork.
