The regular install should have regenerated the "cache" file for the
xpm icons.  If you're installing a snapshot or building yourself, you
might have to do this step manually.  The NSI file has this:

  SetOutPath "$INSTDIR\bin"
  System::Call 'Kernel32::SetEnvironmentVariableA(t, t) i("GDK_PIXBUF_MODULE_FILE", "$INSTDIR\bin\loaders.cache").r0'
  ExecWait '"$INSTDIR\bin\gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders.exe" "--update-cache"'
