Thanks for testing...

Indeed currently I am doing all my tests with the modified lightning.sch
from the pet directory

$ cd pet
$ ruby peted.rb lightning.sch

Just 
$ ruby peted.rb

and loading that file from menu should work too.

Of course the program is still absolutely useless in its current state,
but the way to make all basic functionality work is not too long any
more, I guess about 50% of the work is done now, so I may need
additional 800 hours...

Can you test if the above commands work for you -- I think it really
should work on Linux with Ruby 1.9.

Currently I am mainly interested about thoughts concerning the  GUI
layout -- do you like the sub-windows? Is scrolling fast enough?
