pcb-rnd will load your gEDA PCB layout, plus, ships with support for
parametric footprints, such as BGA types, plus will load eagle binary/XML,
kicad, BXL and other library format footprints, which might save you having
to roll your own.

The UI is quite gEDA PCB-esque, given its heritage, so you should feel
quite at home, but the keyboard mappings have been extended to accommodate
all of the new features.

You can save a layout in the original gEDA PCB format, but it wilon't be
able to store newer features, such as padstacks, rotated text, text in
footprints, slots, multiple fonts, etc... so you're better off saving in
pcb-rnd's newer file format.
