Thanks for the lead, I hadn't heard of these people or their products 
before. Very interesting!

I note, however, that their nonlinear capacitor circuit 
(https://www.thatcorp.com/datashts/dn114.pdf ) features the same high 22 
megohm resistor value that I have my doubts about, and prompted me to 
consult you people here .... :-)

But thanks all the same, I'm always interested in unconventional designs 
and solutions!
