Hi Jim,

Thanks!

Just like with gEDA, you normally install components separately. If you
use a Debian based system, or Megeia, or some of the other big distros,
you can normally install Ringdove programs from the official package repo.

However, sch-rnd is very new, so it may not have made it into the
stable package repos yet. So you most probably need to install from source
this year.

What you need to do for a from-source install:

1. install latest librnd, from http://www.repo.hu/projects/librnd

Make sure you check the summary table ./configure prints at the end;
whether you will have GUI or not is decided here.

2. install sch-rnd, from http://www.repo.hu/projects/sch-rnd

Optional; you can use pcb-rnd with more than 10 other sch editors as well

3. install pcb-rnd, from http://www.repo.hu/projects/pcb-rnd

4. install camv-rnd, from http://www.repo.hu/projects/camv-rnd

Optional: you can use gerbv or whatever other viewer if you want.

A very good set of tutorial videos are available for sch-rnd, on the
project page from point 2, top menu (tutorial). A bit thinner list of
tutorial videos available for pcb-rnd too; we are going to work on that
this year. I recommend watching especially the "getting started" videos.
We don't have tutorial videos for camv-rnd, but if you watched the ones
for sch-rnd or pcb-rnd, using camv-rnd will come naturally.

HTH,

Igor2
