Peter,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

It is good to hear I should have no problem building and running
geda-gaf on AMD64.

As for guile, I had a problem with geda back in December 2020 when
1.10.1 was released. Changes were made in *.1 that required guile 2.2
and my Slackware still had guile 2.0. Now, Slackware 15.0 has gone to
guile 3.0.7, so I am concerned about guile 3.0.7 breaking geda 1.10.2.
If you want to know more about what happened back then and have time to
read it (I counted 43 postings and counting), here is the thread subject:

"Problem with Guile 2.2.4 dependency for gEDA 1.10.1"

As a result of this thread's dialog, geda version 1.10.2 was released
with support for both guile 2.2 and guile 2.0. Now I am faced with guile
3.0 and if geda does not support it, it is a deal-breaker for me and I
will have to stick with my current Slackware 14.2.

BTW: The download site README at:

http://ftp.geda-project.org/geda-gaf/stable/v1.10/1.10.2/geda-gaf-1.10.2-README.txt

still shows Guile >= 2.2.4 listed:

...

You *must* also have the following libraries installed, including
their development files:

  - Guile 2.2 ("GNU's Ubiquitous Intelligent Language for Extensions")
    >= 2.2.4 <https://www.gnu.org/software/guile/>

...

One could assume ">=" means just that and guile 3.0.7 is okay, but...

Thanks.

Girvin
