Please make sure to install all the required development packages as 
specified in README.  Regular packages are missing the header files.

For Debian-like systems, this would be:

   guile-2.2-dev
   libglib2.0-dev
   libgtk2.0-dev
   python2-dev
   libgamin-dev
   groff
