I really have no idea. Here's what I found out so far:

- The above repeating error message pops up in red in the Status Window
and in gschem's log file, not on the CLI.
- The error message only occurs when menu actions take place (clicking,
moving the mouse over an opened menu).
- Every user menu action results in the Status message and log file
growing by approximately 2.4 kilobytes. So the simple action of File ->
Save (skipping over but briefly highlighting the items New, Open, and
Open Recent) results in some 12 kB of logged crud. Not only does this
result in a log file growing very quickly, but even more annoyingly, the
whole log content pops up in the Status Window every single time - and
every single time, I have to close this window before I can continue
working. And this of course takes more time as the log file grows.

Luckily, I use gschem's menu only occasionally, having adopted the
keyboard shortcuts many years ago already, so I can at least do some
work. Still, it is quite annoying.

So despite my very amateurish level programming skills, I shall do some
more digging and experimenting to see if I can find out more about this.
Maybe selecting another KDE Plasma theme and then rebuilding geda may
provide some clues?

I'll post it here if I find anything pertinent.

Thanks for the help so far, best regards,

Richard
