I tried reverting the commit Roland mentioned but it failed I think due
to what was essentially a wholesale rewrite of configure.ac in the
following commit. It would have only helped with the guile issue anyway.
That one is relatively easy to fix by just building guile-2.2 and
installing it along side 2.0. Makes a bit of a mess in the logs but so
far seems to work ok.

For those of us with Slackware 14.2 at least the bigger problem is all
the other upgrades required. At a minimum glib2, gtk+, gdk-pixbuf,
cairo, and pango all have to be upgraded.

In order not to clutter up the list I am going to make up a webpage I
will update as I go. This is going to be more than a one night project
and for me at least freezing at 1.10.0 is not an option. I will post the
URL here once it is set up.
