You mean a pop-up if the mouse hovers over an attribute? This might be
annoying if every attribute would do this.

Or did you mean a pop-up if the mouse hovers over a symbol which shows
the contents of a special attribute? E.g. an attribute "note=3D". This
seems to be less intrusive.=20

With both versions there is a problem with discoverability - how do you
know which symbol has comments attached?

BTW, I like to add notes as text with colour "bounding box". These notes
are visible in the GUI but are omitted on print. So it does not quite
fit the bill. I seem to remember that protel99 had special note symbols
which you had to click to see the associated text. Was a bit tedious to
click through notes written by other authors.
