Hi, fellow gEDA users and developers!

Lepton EDA, the traditional (but no longer concervative) fork of
geda-gaf is now available in several *nix distributions:

- Debian testing (thanks to Bdale Garbee) and some of its
  derivatives (e.g. Ubuntu, Devuan, and others)
- FreeBSD (thanks to Dmitry aka @dmn)
- Slackware (thanks to Dmitry aka @dmn)

I encourage package maintainers of other distributions to package
the new version.

I encourage all lepton-eda/geda-gaf users to use the new version.

The major changes in the new version:

- Transition to a new config system (declared many years ago,
  before the fork) has mostly completed.  Lepton uses its own
  config files that no longer clash with geda-gaf's ones.

- (Minor) Dependencies on Python have been resolved.  Python is no
  longer used in Lepton :-) (That does not mean that Python cannotn
  be used with it, please see, e.g., the python-on-guile project.)

- The two tools, 'lepton-archive' ('garchive' substitution) and
  'lepton-tragesym' ('tragesym' substitution), have been rewritten
  in Scheme and now do better job that did their predecessors (of
  which, the former one was not working for more than a decade).

- Several bugs of the previous version have been fixed.  The most
  notable is the crash on 'File -> Print' in lepton-schematic.

Lepton can be built with Guile 2.0 or 2.2. Testing it with Guile
3.0 is appreciated.
