You need to set GCC into c99 mode.  Get a "-std=c99" or " -std=gnu99 "
into your CFLAGS variable somehow.  Something like
CFLAGS="-std=c99" ./configure
or if it's cmake look in the cache file for the CFLAGS for all build
types and put it there.

Normally you have to declare variables before you use them.  Using for
(GList *l = is a shortcut to declare it and use it in 1 step, I never
liked it.
